The memorial pillar was erected in memory of David Scott at Cherrapunji.He was an agent to the Governor General on the North-East Frontier during British period.
Born in Scotland in CE 1786, David Scott worked in India in various capacities.He died on n20th August 1831 at the age of 45 years.The obelisk is made of ashlar stone masonry raised over a square platform.An inscription is engraved on the memorial pillar.
