The recorded history of Manipur is available with the accession of King Garib Niwas in CE
1714, who embraced Hinduism as state religion. However,in 1891, the Britishers annexed the state and ultimately it merged with the Indian Union in 1949.
A brick wall temple, square on plan, is one of the oldest known brick temples in the state of Manipur. The temple was dedicated to Lord Vishnu
Internally the temple measures 2x2m and the porch measures 2.10x1.1m. It is believed that the temple was built during the reign of King Khyamba (CE 1467-1506) of Manipur.
